I wouldn't count roof mounts. Penetrator's Tbolt has one heck of a long standpipe. Heaven help the poor schmuck who has to work on the head. They must have had a mongo crane to set it, since you couldn't use the tip-up trick with that tower (at least I don't think you could).

In Downtown Topeka there is a thunderbolt on a 15 story building...ive heard it from about a mile away and its sound really does travel! At the leavenworth, Kansas high school there is a thunderbolt on a pole a little bit shorter then that one in the first picture. I am assuming it is becasue there is a big hill behind it.

There's one in downtown Shreveport, LA that's on top of a 20 to 30 story building. It looks like a spec when driving through on Interstate 20.

Same thing in downtown Briminghamn, AL. That one is visible from Interstate 20/59.

This thread reminds me; at the very beginning of the movie Forrest Gump where it show's the leaf or whatever blowing around; you catch a glimpse of a Thunderbolt on a very tall building in the background near the right of the screen.

I always wondered were the beginning of the movie was filmed at.

The Masonic Temple in Alexandria, Virginia, had one on a corner of the main part of the building. That was about 25 - 35 feet up, and it was on a 150 foot or so hill. That sound carried.

Penetrator's siren deserves special recognition because it's a tower mount way up there.

This is a simulation of how high the T-bolt was on the National exchange bank building during the 50's and 60's in my town of Fond du Lac, was later moved to government building in the 70's beacause it really didn't work all the way up there, the sound would go off into the sky, I will try to get the newspaper article from 1955 showing the tbolt on the top with some federal employees.
