What siren is this?

Sat Jan 30, 2010 11:02 pm

Found this one in Coldstream, Ontario and another in Arva, Ontario. They are within the same township. Looks like a European siren or just a vent. Maybe a Model 3?

I'm guessing those could be Model 3's or Omnidirectional HORs. The Model 3's bottom cowl is smaller around and spaced closer to the top.

On the other hand, you may want to post this in the "Post your mystery sirens here" sticky in the main forum.

That is a Fedelcode Model 2. Take a closer look (zoom in) and you can see another "disc" at the bottom of the shroud.
This one's also a Fedelcode 2, you can also see the bottom "disc" if you zoom in.

This siren, soccordude? http://www.jmarcoz.com/sirens/warwick_on.jpg

I took that picture five years ago. Those Model 2's are common throughout southern Ontario.

I stand corrected. Yes, that would be a Fedelcode Model 2. I believe Archon owns one.

Yep that's the one. There is a Fedelcode 2 just like that one in Pegram, TN at the old fire department. It's still in use, because there is a modern radio controller on the pole that looks to be fairly new.

There is a VFD just outside my town that has a CD yellow Fedelcode Model 2 like what you're talking about. It's about 8 miles away as the crow files, and on a calm, clear, single digit temperature night a few months back at about 2 am, I was able to hear it from my house clear as day. The crazy thing is that I live in a valley. This siren is in a different valley/gap that runs at a 90 degree angle from the one I live in. The sound had to have traveled over or around at least 3 major hills to reach me.

There's one in Wilmore Boro on top of their station, and Armagh used to have one before they reconstructed their station.

Here is an early style fedelcode 2. The early ones had crimped edges while the laters had a rolled edge on the louvers.

Here is a later style with the rolled edges:

Here's another Model 2 contraption, not sure if it's not being used because of the STL-10 beside it.
